Award recognises MACSO's breakthrough technology helping farmers detect disease earlier, reduce antibiotic use, and improve livestock outcomes.
AUCKLAND, New Zealand – June 1, 2026 —
MACSO Technologies has been named the winner of the Fujitsu Most Innovative Deep Tech Solution Award at the 2026 New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards, one of the country's highest honours for technology innovation.
The award recognises New Zealand companies that have developed science and engineering-based technologies originating from primary research and successfully translated them into commercial solutions with global potential.
Founded by CEO and Founder Saba Samiei, MACSO is transforming livestock health management through a combination of artificial intelligence, sensor fusion, and non-invasive monitoring technologies. The company's platform uses audio and environmental sensing to detect disease in livestock days before symptoms become visible to the human eye, enabling farmers and veterinarians to intervene earlier and make better treatment decisions.
According to the company, the technology helps reduce livestock mortality, lower antibiotic use, improve feed efficiency, and deliver significant economic benefits at the farm level. MACSO has also secured a multi-year, multi-million-dollar distribution agreement with one of the world's largest animal health pharmaceutical companies, supporting its international growth ambitions.
Accepting the award on behalf of the company, Samiei reflected on MACSO's mission to focus on meaningful outcomes rather than industry trends.
"While much of the technology world is focused on winning races and chasing headlines, our focus has always been on solving real-world problems," said Samiei. "Success isn't about outperforming competitors. It's about creating solutions that make such a meaningful impact that the world cannot ignore them."
The recognition highlights MACSO's commitment to addressing some of agriculture's most pressing challenges, including animal welfare, disease management, antimicrobial stewardship, and farm productivity.
The New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards attracted a record number of entries in 2026 and are judged by a panel of leading local and international technology experts. The awards celebrate excellence across New Zealand's rapidly growing technology sector, which contributes approximately NZ$24 billion to the national economy and generates more than NZ$11 billion in exports annually.
"This award is a testament to the dedication of our team, the support of our customers and partners, and the belief that New Zealand can build world-leading deep technology companies that solve global challenges," said Samiei.
As MACSO continues to expand internationally, the company remains focused on its mission of helping farmers make earlier, smarter decisions that improve animal health outcomes while supporting more sustainable agricultural systems.
